KVUE News and Olga Campos spread the word about the
Heart Gallery of Central Texas.

Thanks to the combined contributions of many Austin photographers and a local gallery owner, a special photo exhibit is about to open, called "Heart Gallery of Central Texas."
Marzia Brussolo is among 55 local photographers who donated their talents to create portraits of children who are now in state foster care. It's hoped the photos will help the youngsters find adoptive families.
"They are normal children. They're happy children. They're silly," said Brussolo as he describes the photos. "Consuelo, Mari, Jose and Areceli... they actually came to our studio."
"Our whole purpose is to humanize children and bring this issue into the community and hopefully find families for all these kids," said Tracy Eilers, Adoption Coalition of TX
Seventy-five children of different ages appear in the photos. Some have special needs, some are older and several are siblings.
"They're just like any other child - who is innocent and sweet and wants to be happy and wants to be loved," Eilers said.
After following the success of other similar exhibits nationwide, Lytle Pressley of SPAZIO Interiors offered to host the premiere of this Heart Gallery. Even before it opens, some of the children featured in the photos are being considered for adoption by the photographers who took their pictures.
"You know they went out. They thought it was a great thing -- met the kids, hung out with them and now realize maybe they can make a difference as well."
The Heart Gallery opening is Thursday at SPAZIO Interiors, 1214 West 6th Street. It is a joint project of the Adoption Coalition of Texas and CASA of Travis County.

The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, as seen on Austin's KXAN News 36.
Every day 500 Central Texas children wait to be adopted. Each month, another 30 children living in foster care become eligible for adoption. To raise awareness of these childrens needs and recruit adoptive families, the Adoption Coalition of Texas, in partnership with CASA of Travis County, are creating The Heart Gallery of Central Texas.
Part art exhibit and part community education program, The Heart Gallery of Central Texas will present amazing, personal portraits of children who are waiting for their forever families. The exhibit will premiere in Austin on August 25 at SPAZIO by Lytle Pressley.
In response to a January 2005 PARADE Magazine article about Heart Galleries in New Mexico and Washington, dozens of Austin-area photographers began volunteering their time and talent to photograph 50 children and sibling groups to create The Heart Gallery of Central Texas. These represent only 10 percent of children waiting for adoption in Central Texas.
With ongoing support from individuals and the business community, The Heart Gallery of Central Texas can grow into a comprehensive family recruitment program that features all children who are available for adoption in our region.
For more information or to become a sponsor, please contact the Adoption Coalition of Texas at 888-441-2009 or 512-301-2825 or email us.

Albertsons Austin Extreme Home Renovation
AUSTIN, TX
. It's an extreme home renovation for two deserving families. On Saturday and Sunday, October 23 & 24, Albertsons volunteers will renovate the homes of two foster and adoptive families that care for medically fragile children. I live to make a difference in the lives of children who have been abused or neglected, the homeowner says.
This is no small honey-do list. Volunteers will rip down walls, put in new flooring, and make the homes accessible for medical equipment. In all, 11 kids and their foster/adoptive parents will benefit from this project.
More than 40 volunteers from Albertsons will do the work under the supervision of Marvin Petzolt, President of Grandeur Homes, who has volunteered his time and expertise. Other volunteers and contributors to this project include Austin Real Estate Partners, BFI, Carpet by Conrad (who donated all of the flooring!) and Superior Septic. Albertsons is graciously underwriting the majority of this project.
Albertsons contribution to the community extends beyond the four walls of our stores, said Jodi Austin, Regional Director for the Austin area of Albertsons. These families take on an enormous responsibility caring for children with special emotional and physical needs and we are honored to give their homes a face lift. According to Dr. Tracy Eilers, Executive Director of the Adoption Coalition of Texas, this project could not be done without the selfless involvement of Albertsons
we are extremely grateful.
The home renovation reveal to the family will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24.
