What children are available for adoption?
There are approximately 500 children in Central Texas on
any given day waiting to be adopted. These children are typically older children
ages 6-17 and/or sibling groups.
How much does the adoption process cost?
There are no fees associated with the adoption of children
from Child Protective Services custody. There may be minimal legal fees
associated with adoption consummation.
I do not own my own home. Do I qualify to adopt?
Yes. You do not have to own a home to adopt.
I am single. Can I adopt?
Yes. You can be single or married.
Are services available after adoption finalization?
Yes, post adoption services are available as are a variety
of support and networking groups. The goal is to make sure that families
have the necessary resources to make this transition as smooth and seamless as
possible. In addition, children adopted through the State have access to
the state college system at no charge.
I am over 40. Do I qualify to adopt?
Yes. There is no age limit to adoption. Some of the
greatest adoptive families are empty-nesters.
Do I have to foster first before I can adopt?
NO! If you are interested in adopting a teenager, a sibling
group, or any child classified as special needs or hard-to-adopt, you may simply
adopt. If you are interested in an infant or a very young child without
basic needs, we recommend foster to adopt with a legal risk classification (we
can explain this more in-depth, just give us a call).
Where are these children now?
These children are presently in the state’s custody and are
in shelters, foster homes, group homes or residential treatment centers
throughout the state of Texas.
